Distillate (brandy) made from mirabelle plums and aged for at least two years.
Mirabelle plums from the Markgräflerland region. Mirabelles are usually cultivated at altitudes below the Kirsch cherries, as their fruit blossoms are more susceptible to frost. They take five months to ripen, twice as long as the cherries. If insufficient fruit is harvested, additional mirabelles are bought from the neighboring French region of Lorraine: Mirabelle de Nancy plums, which turn red on the side facing the sun, have a high juice content and a distinctive flavor. The Mirabelle de Metz variety turns an even yellow and has a slightly less powerful taste.
Flavor: Elegant and delicately fruity bouquet. The intense mirabelle aroma so typical of the fruit is accompanied by refined shades of marzipan.
